The International Dublin Literary Award (formerly Impac) announced its longlist yesterday at the Dublin City Library on Pearse St. Sara Baume’s Spill Simmer Falter Wither is one of seven Irish novels included on the list, with the shortlist to be announced in April 2017.
Spill Simmer was nominated by a handful of Irish libraries, but also libraries in Zurich and Christchurch, New Zealand! We’re delighted to think that Sara’s story, which began in a notebook propped up on the steering wheel of her car in Cork, has made so many trips around the world. It’s since been translated into Dutch, German, Japanese, Spanish, Czech, and even Serbian, to name a few. Congratulations, Sara!
As is customary when Spill Simmer Falter Wither is nominated for a major literary award, Tramp Press will send fancy biccies to Sara’s dog Wink, without whom there would be no novel. GOOD BOY WINK.
